Meeting Room Policy
Meeting space in the Bridgeton Public Library may be used by library and non-profit community groups. Library and library-related activities will be given first preference in scheduling.
Request for space reservation should be made with the library as far in advance as possible. The request shall include the name of the group, purpose of the meeting, name of contact, telephone number, hours of meeting, and number of people expected.
Use of library space by a community group does not constitute an endorsement of the groups mission or program by the library or the City of Bridgeton. Groups using the library may not advocate any illegal activity, nor shall they engage in any activity contrary to the policies of the library.
All meetings held in the library shall be open to the public. Please note that meeting space is in the lower level of the library and is not handicapped accessible.
The library does not set up tables and chairs, nor provide janitorial services for groups using the library. The library is not responsible for publicity, assembling or dismantling exhibits, or storage of non-library material or equipment. The library does not provide a telephone, or an answering or message service for the meeting room.
A portable cork/chalkboard, easels and picture molding may to be used for hanging objects. Nothing is to be attached to the walls.
Art shows and other exhibitions may be permitted by established groups which will assume all liability and present proof of insurance coverage.
Meeting space must be left neat and clean. Tables and chairs should be returned to the positions in which they were found.
Groups are asked to report the number of persons attending the meeting to library staff for library statistical records.
The library may refuse meeting space to any group that has left library facilities in poor condition or disrupts other library activities. The library reserves the right to stop any meeting in progress if this policy is violated.
